This is an original watercolour by equestrian artist Emily Johnson.

“As official artist in residence at the prestigious Cheltenham racecourse, I love nothing more to get down to one of the fences and watch the horses in action. It really is phenomenal the height, length they jump, all at top speeds. I love to see the different ways different horses and riders tackle them and whether it makes a quick jump, or slows them down.

I love experimenting with different pens and water to create different effects. In this piece the water has created that sense of movement, while a little drop of yellow watercolour a nod to the colour silks the jockey was wearing.”
